چکیده
We propose an experimental methodology to visualize asphaltene precipitation in the pore space of rocks and assess reduction permeability. perform core flooding experiments integrated with X-ray microtomography (micro-CT). The simultaneous injection pure heptane crude oil containing induces space. degree is controlled by measurement differential pressure across sample. After precipitation, doped injected replace fluid enhance contrast between precipitated heptane. micro-CT images are segmented into three phases: void, asphaltene, rock. In experiment, we observed that which occupied 39.1% volume caused a 29-fold Furthermore, analyze spatial distribution showed tended clog larger pores. also computed flow field numerically on obtained good agreement simulated measured local velocity after was confined narrow channels This method can be applied any type porous system precipitation.

Pore-scale Simulations of Pore Clogging and Upscaling with Large Velocities
Computational modelling of processes at pore-scale allows to get detailed insight into their nature. It also provides tools to improve coarse-scale models in which porous medium is considered as a permeable continuum. In this paper, we use the simulations at microscale combined with an upscaling procedure and describe the impact of small changes in the pore morphology on the macroscale paramete...
متن کاملPore-Scale Modeling of Pore Structure Effects on P-Wave Scattering Attenuation in Dry Rocks
Underground rocks usually have complex pore system with a variety of pore types and a wide range of pore size. The effects of pore structure on elastic wave attenuation cannot be neglected. We investigated the pore structure effects on P-wave scattering attenuation in dry rocks by pore-scale modeling based on the wave theory and the similarity principle. Our modeling results indicate that pore ...
متن کاملPore-scale simulation of carbonate dissolution in micro-CT images
We present a particle-based method to simulate carbonate dissolution at the pore scale directly on the voxels of three-dimensional micro-CT images. The flow field is computed on the images by solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Rock-fluid interaction is modeled using a three-step approach: solute advection, diffusion, and reaction. Advection is simulated with a semianalytical po...
متن کاملPore Shapes and Pore Geometry of Reservoir Rocks from μ-CT Imaging and Digital Image Analysis
Recent years have seen a growing interest in the characterization of the pore morphologies of reservoir rocks and how the spatial organization of pore geometry affects the macroscopic behaviour of rock-fluid systems. With the availability of highresolution 3D imaging, such as X-ray micro-computed tomography (μ-CT), the detailed quantification of particle shapes has been facilitated by progress ...
متن کاملDynamic three-dimensional pore-scale imaging of reaction in a carbonate at reservoir conditions.
Quantifying CO2 transport and average effective reaction rates in the subsurface is essential to assess the risks associated with underground carbon capture and storage. We use X-ray microtomography to investigate dynamic pore structure evolution in situ at temperatures and pressures representative of underground reservoirs and aquifers. A 4 mm diameter Ketton carbonate core is injected with CO...
